Bolt Assembly

Structural Bolt Assembly are manufactured by Steel & Tube, offered to provide a practical structural system for the different steel thicknesses used with HST purlins when checked for bearing and end tearout.
High Strength Structural Bolt Assembly Standard capacities are based on AS 1111:2000 AS/NZS 1252.
The standard specifies the requirements for the manufacture (Mechanical and geometric properties) of high strength fastener assemblies in 38mm edge distance. Includes requirements for managing and verifying the quality of product manufactured to this standard.

Notes:

  1. The bearing and tearout capacities for thicknesses 1.15 - 2.4 are calculated in accordance with AS/NZS 4600. The bearing and tearout capacities for thickness 3.0 are calculated in accordance with NZS 3404.
  2. The capacities should only be used for the member subject to nominal ductility or no ductility demand.
  3. Washers should be used under both bolt head and nut, or flanged bolts should be used.
  4. A 38mm edge distance was assumed for tearout capacity calculations.
  5. The bolt capacities are based on AS 1111:2000 and AS 1252.
  6. M16 bolts are recommended to be used for cleat connection. The connection capacity should be checked by engineers when M12 bolts are used.
