ADDS STRENGTH TO CHRISTCHURCH
Steel &Tube’s new dual-level-long run-roll forming machine was launched recently in Christchurch. It is part of a substantial investment to strengthen Steel & Tube’s roofing, wire-processing and reinforcing capability in the Canterbury region.
The launch was hosted and organised by Christchurch Roofing Manager Lyall Simpson along with Leanne Climo. All the local roofing team were on hand to assist as invited guests observed working and static displays.
Steel & Tube’s CEO Dave Taylor greeted nearly 60 key customers including commercial customers, construction companies, engineers, architects and interested parties to the event. The importance of this launch was evident with the presence of Roger O’Neill (GM Processing), Mark Waterman (National Roofing Manager), Rod Newbold (Commercial Manager, Roofing) and Tony Rallis (Technical Manager Roofing).
A lot of interest was created as the launch highlighted both the innovation of the new ST963 product and the significant investment Steel & Tube have made in a state-of the- art roll forming machine based at the Christchurch production facility. This dual-level machine greatly expands our capacity to manufacture ST900 and ST963 metal roofing profiles, and comes in response to Canterbury’s rebuild requirements.
Being on site meant attendees could see this impressive new machine in action and they welcomed Steel & Tube’s investment to service customers’ needs locally.
The machine was built by Angus Robertson Mechanical Limited of Christchurch and employs a unique hands-free steel management system. This automatically feeds de-coiled steel into the roll former and eliminates the need for an operator to manually guide metal into the front of the machine. Manual feeding can be a dangerous and unpredictable process, so automatic feeding makes the new machine safer and more efficient to use.
There was also very positive feedback regarding the innovation, strength and aesthetics of the new ST963 product and its ease of installation and stacking characteristics when compared to similar products on the market. There were many expressions of interest and at least one order promptly confirmed.
ST963
ST963 addresses a gap in the market for high strength commercial and residential roofing. It’s stronger, so is resistant to damage from foot traffic during construction; it’s easier to install, due to being the widest cover-for-profile in its class; and it’s cost-effective, providing material and labour savings.
The new profile is available in a large variety of colours. Both ST963 and ST900 profiles can be produced on the one machine creating savings in costs. These profiles are available nationwide.
