UltraPlate™, exclusively supplied by Steel & Tube, is the innovative new product which offers market leading structural plate specifications combined into one product, providing the assurance of the highest strength properties for demanding applications.
Available in thicknesses greater than 15mm.
The enhanced chemical composition of grade 350 UltraPlate™ ensures guaranteed material properties including meeting the grade designations of ‘L15’ for Charpy Impact, and ‘Z35’ for through thickness tensile properties. This is also known as ‘Z grade.
Given UltraPlate™ steel is examined for internal defects by ultrasonic testing providing an “improved” more resilient product, which is important, as the steel will have superior resistance to stress through the plate, enabling it to better cope with tensile stress which may result in lamellar tearing after welding.
Z quality steel plate is increasingly being sought for critical applications in steel structures where larger plate thicknesses are required for end use applications that load the fabricated structure in the thickness direction of the plate.
In high-risk applications and situations, where increased requirements for the deformation capacity of the material needs to be specified, don’t second guess, specify, fabricate, and insist on UltraPlate™. The UK’s ‘Steel Construction Institute’ recommends the ‘Quality Class’ Z35 specification.1
