Late last year all major New Zealand Building Research Institutions worked to create X Frame: a circular economy prototype that is fully recyclable. Over 4000 hours of design work have gone into the development of X Frame.
The X Frame prototype is being show cased around the world to promote the concept of separating economic growth from environmental destruction and material consumption. This is part of a study by the University of Wellington to research building technology and to explore potential solutions and bring attention to the problem that is end-of-life building waste.
Steel & Tube supports Victoria University of Wellington through a program of technical education and was proud to support the X Frame project by sponsoring and supplying roofing and cladding material for each prototype. The first Steel & Tube sponsored prototype was in Papakura, Auckland and the second was clad in Ebony Custom Orb in Canterbury.
